Letter from SHI Founder & President, Florence ReedDear __________, The greatest joy of my work is seeing the positive changes SHI participants are making in their lives. My next greatest joy is sharing those stories of hope with people like you who generously support this work. I am sure that you will enjoy these stories in the spring edition of our newsletter, La Cosecha.
YOU CAN STOP THE DESTRUCTION. Every day Sustainable Harvest International receives requests from families who want to be able to grow more food on their land without cutting down more of the forest. It takes just $25 a month to provide a family with the long-term training and support they need to help themselves. A donation of $250 a month supports our work with an entire community. Please send the most generous donation that you can today and ensure that SHI's work continues. By encouraging others to do the same, you help SHI reach more families waiting to work with us. You can give a family the technical training and support they need to support themselves and protect our environment. Thank you for all you do and your continued support of SHI! In hope, P.S. Please remember that your donation, whatever the size, can have a real impact on the lives of people protecting our environment as they work their way out of poverty. |

Support Fair Trade with SHI's New Organic Cotton Tee Shirts
"In Nicaragua there are many free trade zones where mainly women work in 'sweat shops,' producing clothing under unacceptable labor conditions, long hours and low pay. As parents - mostly single mothers - we want to provide for our own families. We want to send our kids to school. We want to have meaningful work for ourselves. But this is impossible to do by working in the free trade zones, where as workers, we are at the whims of employers who don't care at all about our lives." From the worker-owners of the Nueva Vida Women's Sewing Cooperative Read more about the inspiring story of the Nueva Vida Women's Sewing Cooperative by visiting their website: www.fairtradezone.jhc-cdca.org/story.htm To show your support for SHI and the women of Nueva Vida, click here and buy a shirt or two. |
